Best from the Draft Weekend
The NFL draft is over and writers from all over the USA are looking to make a name for them with indepth analysis of the draft. Here's a writer who made one of the most interesting comments on Jay Cutler, the first round pick of the Denver Broncos:
"Is this a knock on Jake Plummer [the Broncos current QB]? I don't think so. What it means is that Shanahan understands that you can't compete for a championship without a solid quarterback. It's the most important position in the NFL and now the Broncos have a solid future at the position. Great move because a lot of old-time quarterbacks loved this kid." -the Czar, FOXsports.com
Look at those first few lines again "Is this a knock on Jake Plummer? I don't think so. What it means is that Shanahan understands that you can't compete for a championship without a solid quarterback."
Isn't that like saying that the Americans deposing Saddam isn't a knock against the Saddam himself, but the US understands that you can't run a country well with him in charge? (Sorry all Broncos fans. This'll be the last time I compare Jake Plummer to Saddam)

Nice...while I've always been a Jake Plummer apologist, I have to say this could possibly be the pick that most quickly drives his team to a championship.
I don't know about that. Everyone expects him to be the next Rothlesburger, and anything less that a Rothlesburger type winning streak from the first day he arrives would be a big dissapointment for his fans and he might end up going the way of Griese. It'll be interesting to see the way the NFL rookie class of 2006 goes though. I really do like Houstons pick of Williams over Bush. Their finally picking for what's right for their team, instead of a player they don't really need.
